About myself

My name is Thomas Ahlander and I was born in 1943, in Gothenburg, Sweden. Today, I live in Alingsås, a small town, about 30 miles north of Gothenburg. Have done so since 1980.      I have been drawing and painting for as long as I can remember, but has never attended any art schools. I am, so to speak, a self-taught artist.                                                                   In 2006, I went into retirement and then I thought, "better late than never", and with plenty of time, I decided to try establishing myself as an artist, with cars as my specialty. Gladly and often, I paint old and classic American cars, but also sports cars from various eras. Both classic and modern. Mostly, I find my motifs and objects, at vintage car meeting events and exhibitions and I often visit these events, to create contact with enthusiasts and owners of classic vehicles. I photographs a lot at these meetings and uses mostly one or two photos, as the basis of for my portraits. My webgallery, has also become known among classic vehicle owners and from this, I often get orders for portraits of both motorcycles and old cars.

Summertime, I devote myself, painting seascapes. Then, mostly motifs from the islands in the west coast of Sweden. Sometimes, also portaits of old boats.

To sum up this small presentation, I just want to say, that I love old cars and  I love watercolor painting and I hope my paintings, shows some of this love and passion.
